Ingredients
- 3 cups TVP (textured vegetable protein)
- 1 quart canned tomatoes (from your garden -- canning is fun),
- OR (if you don't have canned tomatoes)
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 small can of tomato paste
- 2 TBSP. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 TBSP soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 TBSP wet mustard
Directions
- Blend the quart of canned tomatoes (or the alternative ingredients) until smooth
- Pour the liquefied tomato in a saucepan and heat to a simmer.
- Turn off burner, then dump the TVP in the saucepan, and mix it with the hot tomato stuff.
- Put the lid on the pan and allow the TVP to absorb moisture for 10 minutes (or so).
- Add the remaining ingredients and mix.
- If the mixture seems too wet, add more tvp.
- if the mixture seems too dry, add a little water.
- That's it.
